Stay in The Wheel

27th of April, 2007. The last few times the gerbils were in heat, Honey wouldn't let Peanut in the running wheel and Peanut wouldn't let Honey in the nest box. It was like they had territories. After about 2 weeks, Peanut started chasing Honey if she wasn't on top of something. (On the nest box, on some card board, in the running wheel, in the food bowl.) Peanut wouldn't let Honey be on the cage floor or in the nest box. Peanut just kept making Honey's territory smaller and smaller. This wasn't just when they were in heat anymore. Honey only has the running wheel now. She has nothing to do but run and sleep. She won't eat even if I give her some food because Peanut comes and grabs it from her. On the 3rd of May, Honey's toe was bleeding and her tail was red. I separated them and put Honey another cage. The toys she had were a ping pong ball, and a big, thick tube to hide in. A week later, I got another aquarium and some new toys. I got a new running wheel, a nest box, loofa sponges for chew toys and a tube made out of calcium. Honey is happily adjusting to her new home and her tail and toe look better already.
